Chinese electronics producer Hisense announced on May 28 the start of production of televisions and air conditioning units in Brazil, in partnership with the factories of Multi (formerly Multilaser) and Friovix. In addition to local manufacturing, it will also enter the Brazilian market with the import of white goods for household appliances.
The factory in Manaus is fully operational; however, the company does not reveal the projection of production in Brazil or the size of the investment in local lines.
“The Hisense Group sees Brazil as a market with many opportunities. For the Americas region, it is one of the largest.” Matjaz Cokan, vice-president of the company, states that, at the moment, the focus of production in Brazil is to feed the market itself, although the company sells products in other Latin American countries.
