The head of Timor-Leste's diplomacy said on April 5 that China "has made a commitment" to support economic development in Timor-Leste, namely in the infrastructure, agriculture and industry sectors.
The strengthening of cooperation between the two countries was discussed at a meeting between the head of East Timorese diplomacy, Bendito Freitas, who is on an official visit to China, and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.
"During the meeting, the Chinese government made a commitment to support East Timor's economic development, with special emphasis on the infrastructure, agriculture and industry sectors. The strengthening of the capacity of Timorese human resources through scholarships and training was also highlighted," says the Timorese government.
According to the government, the two ministers also expressed their intention to further strengthen diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation, in favor of common interests.
