The Macao Science and Technology Development Fund and the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology have begun inviting applications for funding for scientific and technological research projects to be undertaken jointly by researchers in Macao and Portugal.

The fund and the foundation together issued a written announcement saying applications for funding for marine research, including research into marine pollution and marine biotechnology, must be submitted by July 26.

The Macao fund will contribute US$372,000 of the US$710,000 that will be jointly handed out each year for research projects lasting no longer than three years.

The two organisations signed in 2017 an agreement to encourage researchers in Macao and Portugal to cooperate.
