Cabo Verdean Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva has promised that legislation to create a special maritime economic zone on and around the island of São Vicente will be passed soon, Inforpress reports.
The Cabo Verdean news agency quotes Mr Correia e Silva as giving the undertaking at an investment conference.
Mr Correia e Silva said his government intended to make Cabo Verde a country known for its tourist attractions, air services, seaports and financial services.
The report says the Prime Minister told the Cabo Verdean legislature last week that the creation of the special maritime economic zone would be the biggest investment yet made in São Vicente.
The zone will have three hotels and a cruise terminal for tourists, some urban areas of the island will be rehabilitated, and the transport infrastructure there will be redeveloped, Inforpress quotes Mr Correia e Silva as saying.
