Mainland China will continue to encourage foreign investment by relaxing regulations, Xinhua reports.

The government-run news agency says 2015’s catalogue of industries open to foreign investment is being revised by the Ministry of Commerce.

The changes will cancel the requirement that foreign investments must be made through a joint venture structure and remove share-holding restrictions in some industries, ministry spokesperson Sun Jiwen was reported as saying.

The spokesperson said the Mainland encouraged technological exchange and co-operation between domestic and foreign companies, but that should not be mistaken for compulsory transfer of technology.
