Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$119.918 billion in the period from January to July 2023. It represented a 4.48 percent decrease year-on-year, according to data from China Customs. Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$77.795 billion to China in the first seventh months of 2023 – a decrease of 5.53 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$42.123 billion in the same period, down 2.47 percent year-on-year.
The total value of merchandise traded in July between the parties topped US$18.883 billion, a decrease of 9.43 percent from the prior-year period.The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$12.559 billion, down 1.58 percent year-to-year, according to Chinese official data. China sold goods to those countries worth US$6.324 billion in July, a decrease of 21.82 percent compared with the previous year.
